Naturescapes HPD by Teknoflor is the first chlorine-free resilient flooring product to receive Living Product Challenge (LPC) Petal certification from the International Living Future Institute (ILFI). The LPC certification, which represents the most rigorous standard for sustainable manufacturing, was officially announced on May 3, 2018 at the ILFI annual unConference in Portland, Oregon.

The ILFI’s LPC is a product certification program, advocacy tool, and philosophy that defines the most advanced measure of sustainability and transparency in product manufacturing today. The Challenge is comprised of twenty imperatives spread across seven petals (performance categories): Place, Water, Energy, Health & Happiness, Materials, Equity, and Beauty.  Naturescapes HPD has received Petal certification as a result of Teknoflor’s completion of sixteen imperatives within the Place, Health & Happiness, Materials, Equity, and Beauty petals.

The basic idea of the Living Product Challenge is to generate a positive impact from products. Product development through the Living Product Challenge framework allows products to be toxin-free, healthy, socially responsible, respectful, net positive and beneficial for both society and the environment. The importance of our Living Product Challenge certification lies in the loyalty to our customers. Our products are produced in a socially responsible manner while adding value to consumers.

While Teknoflor has a longstanding history of safe and sustainable practices, it is largely thanks to our work with organizations and collaborations like the International Living Future Institute (ILFI), the Health Product Declaration Collaborative (HPDC), and mindful MATERIALS that the environmental business focus has expanded to include transparency, material health and social justice.
